EDUCATION:
Major: Geotechnical engineering
Ph.D of Civil Engineering, University of Tokyo, Japan (2001)
Master of Civil Engineering, University of Tokyo, Japan (1998)
Civil Engineer Degree, Hochiminh City University of Technology, Vietnam (1995)
EXPERIENCE:
2004-Present: Geotechnical Engineer at Ellis & Associates, Inc., Florida, USA
2003-2004 : Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana State, USA
2001- 2003: JSPS Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo, Japan
1995-1996: Lecturer at Hochiminh City University of Technology, Vietnam
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
My primary research interests focus on the deformation characteristics of granular materials. The materials are widely
used as aggregate base, subgrade soil in pavement engineering, backfill for retaining walls, and in dam construction, among
others. The fundamental aspect of my work involves the development of a new constitutive model for grained materials that
includes new elements such as anisotropy, time-dependent deformation, small strain behavior and cyclic loading behavior. These
topics have practical applications which makes it able to obtain research funding from a wide array of local and national
sources.
